First win of the season for Men's Football 1sts

Monday 29 October 2012

UEL men’s football.

UEL, again for the second game running, started the brighter of the two sides after a really scrappy start on a difficult playing surface. Stefan Nielson with his first start of the season, finished clinically with a brilliant effort beating the in form Kent goalkeeper. Unfortunately the lead did not last long when Kent levelled controversially from the penalty spot. With the game even at half time and UEL desperate for their first win of the season, they didn’t do themselves any favours and gifted Kent a second goal after a poor backpass was pounced upon and slotted in past the despairing keeper Dan Robinson. At 2-1 UEL's manager acted quickly making a double substitution that would later savour the game. Only five minutes after coming on Liam Bromfield, who scored a brace, scored a brilliant individual goal and 10 minutes later added his second. The game was sealed when Bromfield’s header was expertly saved and Victor Nkolo reacted the quickest in the area to finish off. In the last few minutes UEL's captain  David Shovlin then forced the busier keeper of the two into a spectacular save from what looked a destined goal. First win for UEL, next game home to London rivals Brunel in the first round of the cup.
