UEL made the away trip to Brighton in good form finding themselves unbeaten this year. Sherwin Stanley's man of the match performance capped an excellent victory for UEL as he bagged a hatrick while Drew Jones & Richard Johnson rubbed further salt in the wounds.
UEL nearly found themselves in front inside the first 10 minutes when Drew Jones made himself time and space inside the Brighton Area only to see his effort cannon off the crossbar. UEL nearly paid for that missed opportunity when Brighton's pacey left winger had a dipping shot just go over the despairing UEL keeper's hands. But it wasn't long before Drew Jones in a similar position bolted his left footed effort into the top right hand corner of the net. Quickly followed by forward Sherwin Stanley first of the day, when he drove his unstoppable effort high into the net. UEL's chances of a clean sheet died when they failed to clear in their area. Brighton's centre midfielder dragged back away from a desperate slide challenge to then slot home for Brighton and take the game into the break at 2-1.
With confidence still high from the first half the onslaught continued and Sherwin Stanley added his second from a pin point left footed cross from Imani Likita. Stanley hadn't finished there as he added a third straight after. Richard Johnson decided to get in on the act with arguably the pick of the goals. He darted into Brighton's box with a great solo run finished to make it UEL 5. With a quiet second half at the back for UEL, the midfielders and attackers were no doubt in magnificent form as a fantastic team display put them into the hat for the last 8 draw.
