From the start, Jason Ngandu was getting a lot of freedom up front on his own with quality service coming through the middle of the park from Richard Johnson, Damien Connery and Captain Craig Heskey. UEL opened the scoring through home debutant and match winner of the Hertfordshire clash Jamie Hawthorn, after Joanes Congo whipped in a ball for him to tap home from 5 yards.
Heskey motivated his side to keep the momentum up and they did. Connery who played in the hole just behind striker Ngandu, had enough time and space to look up and smash a 25-yard shot right across the goalkeeper into the bottom corner to make it 2-0. With complacency beginning to creep in Kent were handed a goal through miscommunication between the defence and keeper Ali Wood. Kent were back in the game until Congo took matters into his own hands and whipped a ball into the box. With the assistance of a slight deflection Ngandu made it 3-1 to UEL at the half time break.
Second half is where the demolition began, Peter Omotara continued to overlap his marker, he was given the opportunity to cut inside and smashed a shot from 20-yards out straight into the top corner to take UEL out of sight. Richard Johnson continued to hassle Kent and won a free kick which allowed Jon Braaten to steer it home to make it 5-1. Timothy Gbadeyan came on as a second half sub for Ngandu and made an instant impact scoring twice in quick succession. With the referee giving a harsh penalty for handball against Emmanuel Ojei, Kent managed to get another goal from the spot to make it 7-2. With minutes remaining George Fitzgerald put the ball in behind the defence for Gbadeyan to chase down and then lay it off for Congo. Congo tried his luck from 20-yards out and it ended up in the far corner with the goal keeper hopeless. Final score 8-2.
