Women's team continue their winning streak!

UEL Women’s Football Team end year on a high after 6-2 Cup win!

Written by: Emma Marlow (C)

On Wednesday 30th November UEL travelled to Berrylands, South West London, to face Kings College London in the South Eastern Conference Cup. Coming off their first win last week UEL went into the game knowing that a win would put them through to the last 16 and would make the women's football team the only UEL team left in a cup competition.

The game started slowly with the first 20minutes of the game being played in the middle of the pitch. After around 25 minutes UEL started to control the game and some great play in the centre, mid and left wing from Chloe Hearn, Tabea Ströhle and Holly Venn gave freedom to Charlotte Lynch up front. This freedom game led Charlotte Lynch to score three goals in a short space of time. Further goals from Holly Venn and Zalia Intziful put UEL 5-0 up at half time and cruising.

Kings came out fighting in the 2nd half and managed to break down the UEL defence to score 2 scrappy goals within the first 15minutes of the 2nd half kicking off. The half was a tough battle with both teams having opportunities however another goal from Charlotte Lynch and a superb goal from Zalia Intziful ensured UEL finished at the Christmas break with 2 wins and a place in the next round of the cup. The game ended 6-2 to UEL this sees them drawn to the University of Essex 2nds at home on 1st February 2012.

Goal Scorers: Charlotte Lynch (4), Holly Venn (1), Zalia Intziful (1)

Player of the Match: Charlotte Lynch
