Welcome to UELSports, we’re your one-stop-shop for sports and exercise at UEL. If you’re interested in keeping fit, recreational sport or competitive sporting action then you really should take a look at what we have to offer.

Over 3,000 students have signed up to exercise, train and compete with UELSports, and you could be one of them. Our wide range of sporting facilities and partnerships means you can be certain that we have something for you.

We are embarking on an ambitious development plan to compliment our existing facilities and partnerships because we want you to get involved with sport at UEL.

UELSports we're ready for 2012!

UELSports has a complete range of activities available to UEL students and staff starting the week of the 23rd January 2012. Some sessions even start in our partner colleges from the 9th January, so if you're in East London, why not check them out. Whether you want to compete, try something new, get fit or stay healthy there is something for everyone!

UEL is BUCS most improved sporting University 2011

BUCS Most ImprovedAt the BUCS Annual Awards Ceremony, UEL staff and students were rewarded for all their hard work over the past year by winning BUCS Most Improved University in Sport. The ceremony, which took place at the University of Leeds, saw UEL win the award for gaining 190.5 more points on the previous year, with a total of 238.5 points, and by jumping up the overall league table by a massive 43 places finishing a respectable 81st. This is another big step forward towards UEL’s goal of becoming the number one university for sport in London by 2015.

 


UELSports Reps

We are always looking for student and staff UELSports Reps to support our exciting programme of Intramural Sport. Sports Reps are responsible for:

  • Encouraging the formation of teams within schools and services
  • Acting as central points of contact throughout UEL
  • Advising on future developments

University Tennis Coordinator

Salary in the range £20,870 to £23,007 per annum incl. pro rata Part time (12 hours per week) and fixed-term for two years.

The University of East London is a dynamic and rapidly expanding university at the heart of Europe's largest regeneration area and immediately adjacent to the site of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics Games.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and competitive graduate to provide tennis expertise as part of our expanding sporting offer to students, staff and the wider community. This is a unique opportunity to combine postgraduate study and tennis coaching development at an institution which is rapidly developing in sports.

This post provides an opportunity for a graduate to combine practical tennis coaching and development in a higher education setting with part-time study for a higher degree. Your primary responsibilities will include delivery of a year-round tennis programme to students and staff, the development of tennis opportunities for all players of all standards and to provide direction and guidance to the UELSports tennis club.

Educated to degree level, you will be a current LTA-licensed coach, with experience of coaching players at beginner and intermediate levels. An understanding of the principles of sports development is essential, as are excellent organisational, communication and IT skills. The successful candidate will also have a confirmed place on a part time post graduate degree course at UEL.

At UELSports we aim to provide more opportunities for ALL our students to participate in sport regardless of ability and fitness levels. We are preparing a funding bid to Sport England in order to develop our capacity to provide exactly what you need and desire.

Your views and honest opinions in this survey are critical to ensuring we get our funding bid accurate and we deliver a programme of sporting activity that is demand led (by you).
