Director of Sport - David Cosford

Director of Sport - David Cosford

David Cosford manages and directs UELSports. He is an accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach and Exercise Physiologist. David has directly provided support to a number of Olympic and Paralympic athletes in sports such as swimming, athletics and netball.

David has ambitious plans to grasp the opportunities available to UEL students and staff over the next 5 years. David formerly worked at the University of East Anglia as the Assistant Director of PE and Sport, with specific responsibility for supporting high performance and the management of sports facilities.


Sports Development Officer - Katy Hollands

Katy administers and develops sports clubs at UEL in partnership with the:

  • Student Union
  • National governing bodies of sport
  • Local sports clubs
  • Local authorities

Katy also works closely with local clubs in the community to work together in partnership increasing participation and opportunities for both teh club and the students.

Physical Activity and Events Officer - Yassin Abidou

Yas will be responsible for the creation and running of:, and the creation of for all the students and staff here at UEL.

  • physical activity sessions
  • sports events
  • intra-mural sports

All of these activities will be open to staff and students at UEL.

Pro-ject Manager Try-a-Sport 365 - Claire Smith

Claire is responsible for managing a brand new project funded by Sport England, where students and staff can particpate in sport weekly in 6 sports

  • athletics
  • badminton
  • basketball
  • tennis
  • swimming

Taster sessions in other exciting new sports will also be held monthly in addition to the 5 core weekly sessions.

Elizabeth is responsible for UELSports Scholarship programme and assisting is the development of the Focus Sports.
