BUCS Rewards scheme

Now you can also earn a financial prize by winning BUCS medals for the University of East London. All UEL students are eligible provided they have paid their club membership fee.

British Universities & Colleges Sports (BUCS) is the national governing body for higher education sport in the UK. Points awarded to each BUCS recognised event are added together at the end of the year, and universities are ranked according to the points that they have won in League and Championship events in all 49 BUCS recognised sports.

The BUCS tables from 2010/11 saw UEL climb a massive 43 places and earn the Most Improved University Award at the BUCS Awards Ceremony.  There is considerable work still to be done however for UEL to reach its top London targets, and in order to help reach our target of at least 30 medals in BUCS competitions, the University is investing in rewarding those who win precious medals for the University.

With this new BUCS Rewards initiative, the emphasis is being placed on Individual BUCS Championships. However, team events within Individual Championships will also be rewarded, and team sports which reach the final of their respective Championship will also have the potential to receive a prize.  Non championship events (B events, novice events, shields and trophy competitions) are not eligible for rewards.

The complete list of eligible events, competitions dates, entry closing dates and prize money can be found here.
