University of East London's Piri-Piri Cricket Indoor League  Updates- full table and results can be found here

Week six & seven

After a week’s break, the UEL Piri-Piri cricket league continued with the theme of professional cricketers dropping by, this time Essex CCC opening bowler Maurice Chambers was in attendance with his beloved Wanstead’s colours, I thought Aztecs B handled his bowling pretty well!!

UEL Cricket Club continue their great form, mainly thanks to Haroon Qadoos who scored 60 in a total off 98 v Jackson’s Giants, UEL carried on their great form with victory later on Sunday afternoon in the BUCS Indoor League (5 wins in a day, one very happy coach!!). The biggest upset of the day was rock bottom Jackson’s Giants beating Aztecs CC “A”.

Week five

The top of the table took another twist this week, when Nation Dukes, who last week broke Newham CC Adults undefeated record had a “bad day at the office”, losing both their games. UEL CC keep their 100% record with a second win in their campaign, mainly thanks to another 50 from Sam Foster. The match of the day was between the least experience teams, Newham CC Under 18’s v Wanstead CC Under 18’s, amazingly the low scoring affair ended in the most bizarre tie. Both managers left home with less hair and higher blood pressure!! Wanstead CC Under 18’s beat Nation Dukes in their previous game and therefore are sitting (be it temporarily) at the top of the table.

On another note, this week the UEL “Piri-Piri Cricket” Indoor League welcomed former England and Essex (and father a UEL student) fast bowler Neil Foster ), who seemed extremely impressed by the facilities and the quality of cricket on show.

Week four

The “Piri-Piri Cricket” Title Race took a twist, with three teams in the lead with 52 points each. This is thanks to Nation Dukes' miraculous change in form, having gone out for the highest score thus far (182) in their first game of the campaign, Nation Duke have won all four games since. On week four, they came across an undefeated Newham CC Adults, the victory was a well deserved one having chased down 123, with in form Adam Lord once again contributing with the bat.

Congratulations also to Aztecs CC “A” who won their first game of the season! Aztecs CC “A” could not make it a back to back win as they lost by one wicket in the last over against Wanstead CC Under 18’s. Wanstead CC under 18’s also join Nation Dukes and Newham CC Adults on 52 points with their two wins.

Week three

Newham Adults take the top spot again with two solid performances. Well done to Kerry Packet Clique in their first win of the campaign. Ismail Dar from Wanstead & Snaresbrook CC Under 18’s still tops the batting averages with 100.00.

Week two

Nation Dukes showed that you can be pretty awful one week (getting smashed for 180+ and pull it back by bowling 2 teams out for less than 75 the next) and pretty awesome the next!! Wanstead CC Adults are the current leaders and special mention to Petrus Hattingh in his innings of 60 & 47. Well done to the host team UEL CC in winning, special welcome to Victoria Park CC in their effort in organising a team such short notice!!

Week one

Last weekend University of East London's Piri-Piri Cricket Indoor League at SportsDock began with seven teams of the eleven teams competing. Newham CC Adults started the league with two wins, a convincing win over Aztecs CC "B" and a 37 runs victory over Wanstead CC Under 18's, leaves them on top of the league at this early stage. In Wanstead CC Under 18's other match they triumphed by 6 wickets over Kerry Packer Clique CC. Meanwhile, despite a strong start, Newham CC Under 18's lost to Wanstead CC Adults by 77 runs. In the final match of the day, a brilliant 75*  by Shahzad Raffique, helped the Aztecs "B" finish in third place after week one.  The league continues this Sunday with the remaining four teams all in action, including home team UEL's first match at 9.15 am.
