Basketball

Introduction

UEL Basketball Club (Men’s and Women’s)

Basketball is one of University of East London’s leading team sports.  Great indoor facilities at SportsDock, and expert coaching from our partners at the Newham All Star Sports Academy (NASSA), provide a great environment for basketball players wishing to play in east London.  The club is one of UEL’s focus sport clubs.

Men - The men currently have two teams who represent UEL in BUCS competition, and after reaching the final of the 2011-2012 BUCS South Eastern Cup in 2011, the first team were undefeated to win their league and again gain promotion in 2012.

Women – The women’s team had a great finish this season, and defeated the league champions in their final game. The girls will be looking to carry that momentum into next season and are looking forward to a great 2012/2013 season.

For those who don’t want to play competitively, there are other opportunities to get involved with basketball at UEL.  There are regular Try a Sport 365 sessions for those wishing to learn the sport, or play on a more informal basis.  Students can also book courts at SportsDock for a small fee for informal games or practice with other students.

Even if you are not a player but have a passion for the game and want to get involved, the basketball club are always looking for people to officiate, blog, write match reports and act as committee members.
