Accessing Skills for Higher Education, September 2011
Skillzone’s most recent Accessing Skills for Higher Education (ASHE) programme was delivered on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th September 2011 at the Docklands campus. The ASHE programme is a two day workshop aimed at new Level 0 and Level 1 students about to commence a degree at UEL, on which they can learn about Harvard referencing, and find out how to enhance their academic writing and presentation skills.
A range of potential and current students attended the programme, including students who had completed the compulsory Level 1 study skills module, students who had previously completed New Beginnings 2 and wanted to update their knowledge and students who had not yet been accepted onto a degree programme but wished to gain an insight into what to expect from degree level study. The feedback from the programme was positive. Some of the comments were as follows:
"It was well presented…very engaging [and there was a] good mix of people in the class”.
“The breakdown of essay writing, structure and presentation laid a great foundation for study ahead”.
“The group sessions made me feel not so isolated”.
“It was well organised and well taught… It added more depth to my learning”.
“We covered a lot in two days…very interesting information given which will be useful for the next few years”.
