
The University of East London is committed to developing a range of relationships with schools across London and the Thames Gateway. These activities are designed to raise standards in learning and support the local community.
Activity can be grouped under a number of headings - the below gives a flavour of the range of possibilities:
Contributing to the Governance Agenda:
Being part of a governing body, engagement with the senior management team and involvement with new school developments. Find out more about current developments.
Supporting Institutional Planning:
Curriculum support, submission of joint bids, carrying out research, development of new qualifications and formalising progression routes.
Workforce Development:
Design of post-graduate level study programmes, contribution to subject networks, cross sector shadowing opportunities, supporting pedagogy for example short course design.
Access to Resources:
Including public lectures, negotiated access to the library, as a meeting venue for teachers, provision of ambassadors and student associates to support in the classroom.
Aspiration Related Activities For Pupils:
Campus visits to the University, preparation for higher education activity, summer schools, subject taster sessions, campus visits, attendance at higher education fairs and option events at school.
Subject Specific Activities to Support Achievement:
Including masterclasses, diploma days, study skills sessions, developing personal learning and thinking skills
Community Based Activities:
Information advice and guidance sessions, parent visits to the university, working with specific groups such as looked after children.
