Frequently asked questions

5) How do I find out about funders’ Open Access requirements?

The inclusion of a version of your article in the roar repository may enable you to meet the Open Access requirement or mandate of your research funder. All seven major UK research councils have now published Open Access mandates:

For further information on these mandates visit the Research Councils UK statement on Access to Research Outputs

Other research funding bodies have also mandated Open Acess of research outputs, including the Arthritis Research Foundation, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Department of Health, Joint Information Systems Committee and Wellcome Trust. Further information on research funders' mandates requiring Open Access publication can be found on the SHERPA/JULIET and ROARMAP websites.
