Moving out procedure and deposit refund

How do I return my keys? At the end of the accommodation period, you must remember to secure your room (to include windows) and return your keys to the Housing/Security office in an envelope clearly marked with your name and room number no later than 12 noon on the day stated on the accommodation agreement. If your keys are not returned by the time stated the locks will be changed and you will be charged for the replacement locks / keys.

Can you look after my luggage for any period of time? We do not have any storage facilities and cannot be held responsible for any residents belongings. If it is the end of your accommodation period you should make arrangements to ensure that all your belongings have been removed from your room by 12 noon on the day stated on the accommodation agreement.

I forgot to fill in the form to get my deposit back… For deposit refunds you will need to fill and hand in to us the Request for Refund form. If you have not done so please contact us to send you one out. Please then fill and return to us as soon as possible so we can process your refund.

I was told that I would receive a deposit refund within 6 weeks. It took 9 weeks. Why was I not contacted by Residential Services to inform me of this? Residential Services endeavour to pass your refund request to the University's Financial Services department within 3 weeks of your departure. Refunds to credit/debit cards are by far the quickest to action and we urge students to use this method of payment for this very reason. Refunds to be made into a UK bank account (which must remain open for at least 6 weeks after the end of date of your particular accommodation agreement) are the next quickest option. A refund by cheque can take much longer than 6 weeks and this does not include the time taken to be sent to you by post.
