IMPORTANT: If you are accepting your Room Offer you MUST first read the Handbook for Residents and Accommodation Agreement as well as the information on Distance Selling which is detailed below BEFORE clicking 'I Accept'.
Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, we are required to provide you with the following information if we have not met you before entering into a Agreement with you.
The following information is stated in the University’s offer of accommodation and in the standard terms and conditions of residence:
You have the right to cancel your Accommodation Agreement and get a full refund of advance rental payments by giving us written (by e-mail, fax or post) notice to reach us within 7 working days, beginning on the day after the date of the agreement becomes binding. The agreement becomes binding when you click “I ACCEPT” on the offer of accommodation screen. Your right to cancel does not apply once we have started to provide the accommodation to you: after you move in, it is too late to cancel.
You also have the right to cancel your application for an Accommodation Agreement by giving us written (by e-mail, fax or post) notice to reach us within 7 working days, beginning on the day after you submit your application. Refund of booking fee (£100) will only be given if we have not started your booking process when we receive your notification. Refund of reservation fee (£150) will only be given if we have not already reserved your room when we receive your notification.
There is no extra charge for booking your accommodation on-line or by any other means of distance communication.
The offer of accommodation and the price will remain valid for a period of 7 (seven) working days from the date stated on the offer letter, but after that date the offer of accommodation will automatically lapse if you have not accepted it.
The minimum duration of the agreement is for the Accommodation Agreement Period specified in the offer, but the university will release you early from the agreement if another student reasonably acceptable to the university (e.g. someone who is not already in university accommodation) takes up a Accommodation Agreement in your place and you comply with your obligations in clause 4 of the standard terms and conditions of residence.
Whilst we have offered you a place in the residence specified in your offer and will try to locate you there we do not guarantee that the accommodation will be available in all cases and if accommodation in that hall is not available, we will offer you alternative accommodation.
