(Please remember that all rental instalments are due on the 21st of each month).
How do I find out my outstanding rent amount? You can contact the Residential Office by visiting or calling us between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. You can also view your rental account details online via UELDirect, 'my record' then 'my accommodation' then step 5.
I can't get through to Residential Services, is there another way of contact? Your enquiry can be emailed to dlres@uel.ac.uk
I have received a rent reminder, but I can't pay. What exceptions can be made? Unfortunately we cannot make any exceptions for students who are unable to pay their rent when it becomes due. We would always advise students to contact UEL's Student Money, Advice and Rights Team (SMART) for advice and guidance on financial difficulties.
Can I use my deposit towards my final instalment? No. The deposit will be returned to you upon completion of a satisfactory room inspection. Your room must be clean and empty of all rubbish and personal possessions for you to qualify for a full refund. Please note that any repairs needed due to malicious damage will also be charged from your deposit.
My direct debit hasn’t come out and I have now spent the money. It is your responsibility to check on a regular basis that the money is being taken from your account as agreed. If not you need to contact Residential Services asap.
Please note we follow UEL's Fees Policy
How do I return my keys? At the end of the accommodation period, you must remember to secure your room (to include windows) and return your keys to the Residential Services or Security office in an envelope clearly marked with your name and room number no later than 12 noon on the day stated on the accommodation agreement. If your keys are not returned by the time stated the locks will be changed and you will be charged for the replacement locks / keys.
Can you look after my luggage for any period of time? We do not have any storage facilities and cannot be held responsible for any residents belongings. If it is the end of your accommodation period you should make arrangements to ensure that all your belongings have been removed from your room by 12 noon on the day stated on the accommodation agreement.
I forgot to fill in the form to get my deposit back. For deposit refunds you will need to complete and hand in to us the Refund Request form, as soon as possible so we can process your refund.
