RAG was established in November 2010 to play a key consultation role in advising and shaping the development of UEL's REF submission. Membership was revised in autumn 2011, as preparations began to gather pace, to expressly include all UoA Coordinators.

It is likely that smaller working groups might be convened from time to time by RAG to undertake specialist work (e.g., vetting draft submissions etc). This work will involve members listed above working with others (e.g. UoA leads). These include:

Prior to the establishment of RAG, responsibility for REF was held by Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee, minutes of which are made available via the Quality Assurance and Enhancement website.
