This page provides useful information and documents to support you when applying for research funding.
When applying for research funding, you will need to complete a Grant Application Approval (GAA) form. The information you provide on the GAA summarises the proposal and budget. Send a completed GAA together with your funding application and budget to ReDS for review, and to your head of School ot Service to approve prior to submission.
If you have any queries about the form, the pre-submission process, or are seeking external funding, please contact ReDS.
Increasingly, research bodies are encouraging applicants to complete applications online. Joint Electronic Submission System (Je-S) is used most commonly.
JeS is used by the AHRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, ESRC,NERC, STFC and TSB for most of their research funding application schemes. Using Je-S, researchers can prepare bids online. These can then be submitted electronically to the relevant Research Council. If you intend to be a Principal or a Co- Investigator on a bid to any of the above Research Councils, you will need to have a registered Je-S account. To create a registered account, visit the Je-S website and click on ''Create account''. Accept the terms and conditions, enter your email address to check for a duplicate account, select to create a registered account, and fill in your details - you should use your UEL contact information. The Je-S system will then automatically email ReDS to request confirmation that you are eligible to be a PI or Co-I. Once the ReDS team has verified this you will be able to log-in to the Je-S system to create your application.
If you are unsure whether you already have an account, or have forgotten your username and/or password, you can generate reminders via the Je-S website.
If you want to be given a short demonstration of completing a Je-S form, please contact reds@uel.ac.uk to arrange it.
