In May 2005, we received a significant donation of materials from the London office of UNHCR, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, ( http://www.unhcr.org.uk/ ). The UNHCR Photograph and Slide Library contains a diverse range of photographs and slides which have been produced by the UNHCR over the years. There are in excess of thirty boxes of resources covering most geographical regions including Africa , Asia and Europe . In addition to the image based resources, there are also a number of audio tapes containing both recorded interviews and programmes related to refugee and migration issues. We are currently in the process of devising a suitable means of cataloguing these resources onto our online catalogue, and this will be undertaken in due course. In the meantime, we have produced a temporarily list highlighting the range of slides and photographs. A copy of this list is available in PDF format is available on request..
Items from the UNHCR Photograph and Slide Library are available for loan on a goodwill basis and please contact the Archivist, Paul Dudman, for further information. Paul can be contacted by telephone on 020 8223 7676 or via email at library-archives@uel.ac.uk . A feedback form and full postal address is available in our `Contacts' section.
In addition to the Photographs and Slides just mentioned, we have also received two significant donations of videos produced by the UNHCR. These are available to watch in the Archive and can also be loaned out on the same goodwill basis as per the slides and photographs. Details of the videos will be made available via the online catalogue in due course.
Online descriptins for this archive can be found on both the AIM25 and Archives Hub websites along with describtions of all our archival collections held at UEL.
