All students and academic staff involved in postgraduate research (PGR) should refer to the documents below when seeking clarification on aspects of the various processes in place at our University.

The documents included below provide important and specific detail on the approval pathways through School Research Degrees Sub-Committee (SRDSC) and Research Degrees Subcommittee (RDS), alongside a summary of key areas of responsibility and our University's PGR Code of Practice:

PGR Attendance Policy (2012) This policy establishes the core standards and expectations around student engagement and attendance on our University's PGR programmes.
Research Degrees Subcommittee (RDS) Approval Process A process map detailing the various stages of recommendation and approval between SRDSC and RDS.
PGR Activities and Responsibilities summary of the various activities linked to PGR activity across our University.
PGR Process Ownership Model (POM) A detailed overview of the various key processes of PGR activity and the schools and services who hold lead institutional responsibility for them.
PGR Code of Practice 2012-2013
The Code of Practice articulates the standards and expectations of our University and should be read in conjuction with Part 9 of the Manual of General Regulations.
Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES)
UEL is a regular participant in PRES, a national survey of postgraduate research students in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the UK. The next round of PRES will launch in spring 2013.
