Student Module Feedback Service

The Student module Feedback Service offered by this department will enable programme tutors to assess students' evaluation of the teaching and learning experience in a particular module. Using a specialised questionnaire design software named Speedquest for Windows we are able to custom print questionnaire items onto pre-printed Optical Mark Reader Forms. The response of the students is then scanned onto a computer which produces an analysed statistical report per question.

How does it work?

• The programme will take a maximum of twenty questions per A4 side which is then overprinted onto the OMR forms from a printer and can then be circulated to the survey participants.
• Completed forms can then be read for each question by the OMR and give a report in graph form detailing the following:
  • mean scores
  • frequency distributions
  • standard deviations

To assist those tutors unfamiliar with questionnaire design techniques we have developed a pool of questionnaire items that can be employed in programme evaluation surveys. This bank of questionnaire items attempts to cover the main aspects of the teaching/learning experience.

The benefit

• The use of OMR technology for analysing students' reponse to a particular module/programme can result in substantial reductions in time spent on inputting data and subsequent analysis results.

All you have to do is:

• Specify what questions you want to ask (select from our bank of questions or choose your own).
• Give us the questions you have chosen, indicating how many questionnaires you want and the date you require them by. We will send you the ready printed questionnaire within 14 days.
• Return completed forms to us for scanning and the production of a statistical report.
