Brief biography

Rachel is a clinical tutor on the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology. Rachel also works part time in the NHS in a medium secure forensic setting where she works as part of a multidisciplinary team providing psychological input to the acute part of the inpatient service and also providing forensic consultation to services in the community. Rachel also leads the systemic family therapy clinic for the forensic service.

Rachel obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Leeds, a Master’s Degree in Addictive Behaviours (distinction) from the University of Liverpool and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of East London. She has undertaken further training in systemic family therapy.

Activities and responsibilities

  • Contribution to the clinical aspects of the course as part of the clinical tutor team, in particular the placement arrangements and the clinical learning of trainees.
  • Line management of trainees as clinical year tutor.
  • Teaching on the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology.
  • Assessment of academic and research assignments on the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology.

Critical and social constructionist approaches to mental health; forensic psychology; substance use and addictions; and systemic approaches in clinical psychology. Developing service user involvement in clinical psychology training.
