Brief biography

Meredith completed her training and education in the USA. She obtained a BS in Behavioural Neuroscience at Lafayette College before joining the Neurochemical Brain Imaging Research Programme at Yale University School of Medicine. Following, she completed a funded PhD in Clinical Psychology at Louisiana State University, focusing on addictions treatment. She completed her predoctoral clinical internship at the University of Maryland/Baltimore Veterans’ Affairs Hospital consortium. Her doctoral research evaluated the effects of a brief alcohol treatment among heavy drinking university students mandated to alcohol treatment. She joined UEL in 2011.

Areas of Interest/Summary of Expertise

Meredith's work focuses on the early identification and prevention of alcohol and substance use disorders among high-risk young adults.

She is also interested in determining which substance use treatments work the best for which clients and why. Meredith has recently focused her research on understanding the relationship between social anxiety and alcohol use among participants in alcohol use treatment studies.

 Meredith is also a Chartered Clinical Psychologist.
