Brief biography

Laura graduated in Psychology and Education from the University of Hull, a four-year integrated course, and went on to teach in a number of different educational contexts. Laura completed her professional training in educational psychology at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and subsequently worked as an Educational Psychologist (EP) in London and South East Asia. Laura was one of a number of EPs that worked with the government of Singapore to develop a school psychological service for Singapore.

Laura now works in the London Borough of Haringey as a Senior Educational Psychologist and has a specialist interest in autism.

Laura was appointed as an academic and professional tutor for the Professional Doctorate for Educational Psychologists in September 2008.

Activities and responsibilities

Laura as an academic and professional tutor in the doctoral training course for EPs. She is theme leader for assessment and consultation. She is seconded to the UEL post for two days per week.

Areas of Interest/Summary of Expertise

Laura completed her Doctorate of Applied Educational and Child Psychology in 2009. This was a narrative inquiry into young people’s perspectives on migration. She also has interests in research in educational psychology, cross-cultural work, the voice of the child, resilience and autism.
