Brief biography

Matthew completed a first degree in biochemistry at the University of York. He then worked as a project manager in the construction industry before returning to academia and completing the Psychology Graduate Diploma at UEL. He subsequently joined the School of Psychology at the University of East London as a graduate teaching assistant in 2006.

Activities and responsibilities

Matthew predominately teaches Research Methods and introductory psychology tutorials on the BSc Psychology Programme, and has also lectured in the Level-3 option modules PY3021: The Psychology of Relationships and PY3104: Critical Social Psychology.

Areas of Interest/Summary of Expertise

Matthew’s main research interest is in the psychology of intimate relationships. The focus of his PhD thesis is exploring satisfaction in long-term relationships from a critical psychological perspective and his research is influenced by ideas from phenomenology and social constructionism.
