Why Study Special Needs & Inclusive Education as part of a Combined Honours Degree?

The BA Special Needs & Inclusive Education degree prepares you to work with children with SEN across all age ranges and in a variety of settings. It provides opportunity to explore the context in which children are defined, diagnosed and labelled as having special educational needs. The degree includes areas of particular interest such as behaviour management, dyslexia, working within the multi disciplinary team, the role of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and international perspectives.

What will I study?

You will study core modules which provide an introduction to special educational needs, challenging disability and inclusion. You will also study modules on academic writing, study skills, employability and research.

There is a range of option modules which enable you to choose areas in which you have particular interest such as; behaviour management, dyslexia, working within a multi-disciplinary team, international perspectives, sociology, child health and policy.

There are work-based modules at every level of the degree, which allow you to gain credits using evidence of your practice from your work placement.
