Why Study Music Technology as part of a Combined Honours Degree?

Music Technology at UEL is a practical programme with two main aims:

  • Provide students with the basis to develop and use complex music technologies for home computer based music production.
  • Produce people with the necessary skills to work as graduate audio engineers within TV, Video, CD and games audio production.

This programme offers you the chance to:

  • develop and improve your skills in computer based music production
  • learn how to manage and market your own music production
  • use both MAC based and PC based technologies
  • get a job as a graduate audio engineer within a media based industry

What will I study?

There are six main themes developed through the three years of the programme:

  • Computer based Music Production
  • Audio Engineering
  • Project Management and Academic skills
  • Business skills,
  • Multimedia skills
  • Cultural aspects of music production.

Can I study a Combined Honours Programme as a Part-time degree?

All our Combined Honours Programmes can be studied on a Part-time or Full-time basis. As a Part-time student, you will study the same degree programme, but at a slower pace. You will study up to 4 modules per year (instead of 6 as a full-time student).

What career opportunities will I have?

You can become a Graduate Audio engineer within the media industry, utilise your music production and management skills for your own use, or graduate to a higher level masters degree programme.

Entry Requirements

200 UCAS tariff points (including two passes at A2 level) plus GCSE Maths and English grade C. Applicants must have a qualification in Music or substantial experience of music production.

How do I apply?

If you wish to study with us full-time from September, you will need to make your application via UCAS (www.ucas.ac.uk).

If you wish to study with us part-time you can obtain an application form from our admissions department study@uel.ac.uk or apply on-line.
