Law postgraduate programmes have a strong focus on international and comparative law. Our law programmes offer students the opportunity to explore some of the critical issues of our time from a legal perspective; globalization; human rights, international conflict resolution, international criminal legal law, terrorism, regulating the international financial system and building an equitable international economy.
Our programmes are taught by recognized experts and are supported by a strong research culture. This was endorsed by the last Research Assessment Exercise in 2008, which graded 80% of the research carried out in the field of law as being worthy of international recognition and above – including 5% ranked as world class and 30% as being of international excellence. We have a lively postgraduate research community, partaking in ground-breaking work, including around 50 PhD students, many of whom have won scholarships.
The School of Law and Social Sciences accepts students from diverse backgrounds, including students whose first degree is in a discipline other than law. Students have the option As well as a general LLM programme, the School offers LLM programmes specializing in International Law, Human Rights, International Law and Criminal Justice, International Law and the World Economy, International Law & Financial Markets, International Business Law, international Law & International Relations and Islamic & Middle Eastern Studies The School also offers an MSC in Terrorism Studies.
