Programme summary for MRes (Master of Research) Research Training

Programme content

The MRes prepares you to undertake advanced research in professional, industrial and academic contexts. It also provides a vital foundation for doctoral research. It enables you to develop the full portfolio of key research skills which you will need if you wish to pursue a career requiring you to do research or make use of research in your job, inside or outside academia.

It requires you to apply these skills in the completion of a substantial research project of your own choice.

MRES at UEL

Skills central to the professional conduct or rigorous appraisal of research are transferable to a wide range of high-profile job situations. Good researchers are expert project managers. Good managers in public and private organisations demonstrate excellence in understanding of the research they need to commission and use in strategic management. Businesses and organisations can get vital research carried out through sponsorship of staff on the MRes programme or sponsorship of high-calibre students selected by UEL.
