This programme offers accredited continuing professional development for those working in career related professions. It is supported by the Institute for Career Guidance (ICG) / Career Development Institute (CDI) and satisfies the CPD requirements for the CPA professional Register.
The programme requires completion of a Research Dissertation. Taught sessions on research methods are shared with Masters students from Coaching and Counselling and supervision is offered by academics from the career guidance team. It can be completed in one year by part-time study.
The MA offers progression from initial training. It allows qualified and experienced professionals working in the guidance context the opportunity to update their knowledge of developments in research and theory relevant to guidance practice and to undertake their own work-based research. Evidence shows the MA has contributed to career progression and enhancement.
Students on the Masters programme will have a designated research supervisor. Students will have access to on-line resources as well as documentation and access to library resources.
Applicants for the MA would normally have completed the post graduate Diploma in Career Guidance or an equivalent post graduate qualification. All applicants must demonstrate the capacity to study at Masters level. Non-standard entry may be open to holders of a relevant professional qualification. Interview and references will also be required.
