Welcome to Strategic Planning
The strategic planning team are responsible for four tasks:
- We are the first line of contact with UEL’s core grant-in-aid funders, especially HEFCE;
- We manage the submission of data to those funders and other agencies (like HESA);
- We manage internal planning processes like the Planning Conference, annual planning round and student number target setting; and
- We analyse data and conduct research to improve our understanding of UEL’s performance and market position, and give help to UEL decision-makers.
A lot of our work is therefore driven by what external agencies want UEL to do or to provide data about. We also support UEL projects where our specialist skills and expertise can be helpful:
- We have access to a wide range of internal and external data about UEL’s students, competitors and environment. We also have the analysis skills to help you make sense of data;
- We have technical skills in data returns so we understand league tables, performance indicators and similar and can sometimes identify ways to improve our rating;
- We have skills in bidding to certain funding sources, particularly for funding for new academic provision such as HEFCE Additional Student Numbers(ASNs); and
- Where we manage UEL processes (like the planning round) we are eager to work collaboratively with Schools and Services so that you can surface important issues and get decisions taken.
