The University of East London’s (UEL) BSc Acupuncture degree now has accreditation with the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board and all successful graduates will be eligible for membership of the British Acupuncture Council.
The professional training programme is available on a full or part time basis and is taught by a highly experienced teaching team that includes doctors from China and America, as well as top specialist guest speakers.
Charmian Wylde, BSc Acupuncture Programme Leader at UEL said: “Acupuncture is a challenging and rewarding occupation. As the profession is nearing statutory regulation, this is an ideal time for people to study a really inspiring degree.
“The degree is grounded both in western medical science and in the history, philosophy and theory of Chinese medicine. Most acupuncturists go on to set up their own practice, and the programme teaches people the necessary professional skills to achieve their goals.”
Students learn how to treat a wide range of conditions including muscular and skeletal, mental and emotional disorders, digestive, respiratory, and gynaecological. All work is supervised and carried out at UEL’s on site community acupuncture clinic in Stratford.
In the final year of training, students can follow their topic of interest through their research project, and between years two and three, there is an optional placement in Nanjing China, where students experience working in a busy teaching hospital of Chinese medicine.
