One of the New York Knicks’ leading coaches offered a master class in shooting accuracy and motivation to some of the UK’s top basketball coaches at SportsDock last week.
Dave Hopla, who is widely regarded as the top shooter in the world and regularly knocks down 495 out of 500 shots, offered a breathtaking demonstration in shooting as part of a special National Basketball Association (NBA) coaching clinic, to a captivated audience at the £21million facility. SportsDock was the official training camp to USA Basketball during its successful gold medal campaign at last summer’s Olympic Games.
As part of his role at the Knicks, Dave works with Basketball superstars including Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler, who were instrumental players for USA Basketball at the London 2012 Games.
Dave Hopla said: “I am blessed, as I am doing something that I love to do. To be able to share that with people who are willing to listen, just energises me. “
During the clinic, Detroit Pistons’ Assistant Coach, Charles Klask, also put young players from Newham All Star Sports Academy (NASSA) through their paces, as part of his special presentation on skill development.
Ahead of their special game against the New York Knicks at London’s 02 Arena last week, the Detroit Pistons took part in a training session at SportsDock.
