UEL awards first paralegal diplomas

Tuesday 11 December 2012

National Association of Licensed Paralegals

The University of East London’s School of Law and Social Sciences held its first award ceremony for law students who have achieved the National Association of Licensed Paralegals (NALP) diploma, last week.

A Paralegal is someone qualified to perform substantive legal work that requires knowledge of the law and procedures but who is not a fully qualified solicitor or barrister).

The event, which took place at the University’s Stratford campus, saw students presented with their awards by the Chief Executive of NALP, Amanda Hamilton.

One student said she believed she had obtained her new job in America in part because of this extra qualification.

Students Dalana Horne and Bianca Wilson (pictured) obtained additional awards for achieving the highest grades in the module.

Sonia Crawford, senior lecturer for the NALP modules, said: "The students worked really hard, and it's fantastic to see them receive this invaluable qualification from Amanda Hamilton, too. I wish them all the very best in their careers.”
