UEL is delighted to announce a new International Development scholarship which will offer a great opportunity for a student to ‘make a difference’.

Launched in partnership with the International Students House (ISH), London’s largest residences for international students, this scholarship is the first of its kind at UEL. The scholarship will be awarded to a student from a developing country who would otherwise not have had the opportunity to study overseas due to financial constraints.

The successful scholar will be given the chance to make a positive contribution to the development of their home country as a result of completing an MSc NGO and Development Management Programme at UEL. ISH and UEL will be providing tuition fees, flights, accommodation, food and living costs. This new scholarship is unique for UEL, as it is fully funded by UEL and ISH.

Adrienne Clarke, Director of the University of East London’s International Office, said: “The International Development Scholarship presents a fantastic opportunity for a student who may not ordinarily have had the chance to study overseas not only to further themselves academically, but to take what they have learned at UEL and help make a real difference at home.”

Kevin Coyne, Dean of Students at ISH, said that  “We are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity in conjunction with UEL to further increase the number of international students studying in London.  We look forward to welcoming the student in September and supporting them through the exciting times ahead.’’

The International development scholarship is one of a number of scholarships open to International Masters Applicants for UEL’s September 2012/13 intake.
