The University of East London has been nominated in the ‘Outstanding International Strategy’ category at the Times Higher Education’s Leadership and Management Awards.
The nomination, which sees UEL competing with several other universities, including Birmingham and City University London, demonstrates UEL’s commitment to a diverse range of international ties and projects with the ambition of becoming one of the UK’s leading internationalised universities by 2015. UEL’s international commitments span the world, and are particularly prominent in Africa, South America and the Far East.
Home-based aspects of this policy have also formed part of the consideration, including UEL’s ‘Going Global Bursary’, which allows students to take short, course-related trips outside the UK, and the introduction of language courses to augment international awareness and engagement.
The winners will be announced on Thursday 21 June at a gala ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
