UEL’s Students’ Union was recently named Bronze award winner at the National Union of Students (NUS) Green Impact Awards in Manchester.
The awards recognise the environmental work of students’ unions around the country and this year had a record 105 unions competing for just nine awards. The awards are part of the NUS Green Impact initiative, which provides environmental accreditation for students’ unions, helping unions to showcase great environmental practice.
Dannie Grufferty, NUS Vice-President (Society and Citizenship), said: “The quality of the entrants into this year’s awards was exceptional, and all the winners should be very proud of themselves. They’ve set a great example for those around them and have made real progress for environmental sustainability.”
Friday Obodo, Ethics and Environmental officer (UEL SU) said: “Working on this project has been thrilling and encouraging. I am proud to be part of the team that achieved the bronze award for the students’ union.
