UEL welcomes the Wilson Review of Business-University Collaboration

The University of East London (UEL) has welcomed the Wilson Review of Business-University Collaboration published on Tuesday, 28 February.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patrick McGhee, commented: “We are pleased that the Wilson review recognises the importance of building links between universities and businesses, and providing students with experience of industry and enterprise to complement their academic studies. This is an area that UEL has worked hard on for many years, and we have led the way in forging partnerships in the private, public, and third sectors in our region.

“Placements and internships are especially important for students from backgrounds who are under-represented in particular sectors, and may not have the contacts or networks needed to get that first foot on the ladder. Future resources should be focussed on providing these students with opportunities which would not only help these students, but would also help their employers, through providing a wider recruitment pool and greater diversity. We are sure the government will consider the Wilson review carefully, and look forward to their response to its recommendations.”
