Canon invites UEL students to join the media frenzy at London Fashion Week

Students at London Fashion Week

Ten BA Photography students from the University of East London were at Somerset House for London Fashion Week last night as guests of Canon Cameras.

Canon arranged for the students to photograph two catwalk shows presented by Zoe Hardman of ITV2's 'Take Me Out, and featuring Lisa Snowdon as special guest.

The students were allowed into the scrum that is the press pit at such an event and were able to photograph two high-profile shows featuring collections from Holly Fulton, Antipodium, Prim Rose, Game On and Jasper Conran from this unique and much sought-after perspective.

Greg Hayward BA photography student, said: "Mixing with the professional photographers and journalists was an amazing opportunity. To be submerged into the professional arena and to be treated as a peer made the evening something special."

Ralph Hall, Senior Lecturer in Photography at UEL, said: “This was our first collaboration with Canon and we want to say a big ‘thank you’ for the opportunity. It was a very exciting evening for the students and the smiles on their faces at the end of the show indicated just how much they enjoyed themselves.”

London Fashion Weekend is on until February 26th, click here for details.
