The University of East London has appointed Dusty Amroliwala OBE as its new Pro Vice-Chancellor (Services and Infrastructure).

The new Pro Vice-Chancellor will manage and oversee the running of Facilities Services, HR services, Library and Learning Services, IT Services and the Mentoring and Equalities Unit.

Following his career in the RAF, which included a period as Head of the Royal Air Force’s Initial and Professional training academy, Dusty moved into Whitehall where he spent two years as the Director of HR Services at the Home Office. Dusty also worked in the Cabinet Office for just under three years, where he was the Director of the Civil Service Workforce. In this role, Dusty was responsible for the formulation of a HR policy for approximately 480,000 staff and for providing professional advice to government ministers and the current Cabinet Secretary, Sir Gus O'Donnell, on a very wide range of HR policy issues.

Speaking of Dusty's appointment, UEL Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patrick McGhee, said: “I am extremely pleased to welcome Dusty to UEL. He brings with him a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective and I know he will be an asset to our university.”

Dusty Amroliwala said: “It is a singular honour to be invited to join the team at UEL at this fascinating time in the University’s history and I look forward to playing my part to the full in promoting UEL’s high standing and helping it to achieve its aims and objectives.”
