The University of East London and Redbridge Council are encouraging Asian women to attend the Education and Training Fair in Ilford Town Hall on Thursday, 16 June.

The event, which has been organised by UEL in partnership with Redbridge Council, is open to all Asian women from 16 years upwards and will offer information on education, training and employment opportunities in Redbridge and the East London area. Attendees will also receive practical advice about what services in the local community are available to them.

At the fair, people will get the chance to speak directly to a variety of key organisations, including Redbridge Council, Age Concern Redbridge, Redbridge College, Sikh Care Community project and Victim Support. The University of East London will also have a stall at the event and be on hand to offer advice.
For those who wish to indulge in something practical and creative, a flower arranging workshop will take place during the event. The winner of the Asian Women’s Achievement Award will also be announced.

Work Redbridge will also be at this year’s fair. Work Redbridge is an innovative new project that brings together more than 30 of Redbridge’s most experienced training and skills organisations to provide residents with one-to-one support on taking the next step in their careers. Work Redbridge also provides an online portal for accessing information about the latest job vacancies, career advice, business support and guides on things like writing CVs and preparing for interviews. Jasbir Panesar, Community Development Co-ordinator at UEL, said: “This is a great opportunity for Asian women to find out about the numerous training and employment programmes which are available in Redbridge and the East London area. At the event, they can also learn about local services, such as recycling and children’s centres, or seek advice in relation to any culturally sensitive issues.”

The Education and Training Fair takes place on Thursday, 16 June between 10.00am and 2.30pm in the Main Hall of Ilford Town Hall, High Road, Ilford. A complimentary buffet will be served at the event.
