
UEL senior lecturer in Computing Information Technology, Johnnes Arreymbi, was recognised this month for his work on internet and wireless network security.
Johnnes was presented with the ‘Award for Excellence’ at the 2011 International Conference on Information Technology, sponsored by Microsoft and IEEE (the world’s largest professional association for the advancement of technology) and held at Al-Zaytoonmah University in Jordan.
Following a keynote speech made to an audience of over 500 delegates from across the world, entitled ‘How trust affects internet security’, Johnnes was presented with the prestigious award by Jordanian Minister for Communications and Information Technology H.E Eng Atef Al Tell.
Following the conference Johnnes was also interviewed live on Jordanian and Saudi Arabian television to discuss issues of internet trust and security.
Johnnes said: ”It was a great honour to be given this award by the Honourable Minister for Communications and IT. It came as a total surprise, however, it shows that my work in the areas of IT security and my contribution to science generally is being recognised worldwide and puts UEL’s research firmly in the IT Security domain.”
