UEL launches new public sports clinic

UEL Sports Clinic

Anyone who knows the stresses and strains of regular sporting activity can breathe a sigh of relief with news that the University of East London is to open the doors of its sports clinic to members of the public for the first time.

While the clinic has been used exclusively by UEL students and staff in the past following a successful grant application to the Challenge Fund Bid, UEL is now launching the service to sportsmen and women of all levels within the wider community.

And with prices a good deal more competitive than similar commercial operations, Clinic Manager Liz Nicholls believes the centre will prove an invaluable resource for anyone taking part in regular sporting activity.

“It’s great that we can now reach out to the wider community, and assist in the rehabilitation process where sporting injuries have occurred, as well as offer advice on range of issues such as injury prevention.

“It’s been something we have wanted to do for some time and I’m delighted we are now able to give something back to the community.”

UEL Director of Sport, David Cosford, added: “UEL places tremendous importance on its role within the wider community, and the launch of this new service underlines this key principle. In time we hope that local sportsmen and women of all levels are able to benefit as a result of this fantastic resource.”

The Sports Clinic possesses an array of high-tech features , including diagnostic ultrasound technology, and also offers specialist sports massage. The clinic is staffed by qualified physiotherapists, many of whom are UEL graduates.

UEL’s sport clinic is based at its campus in Water Lane, Stratford. For more information about the services available and making an appointment please visit http://www.uel.ac.uk/hsb/about/sportsclinic/
