Ofsted describes UEL Children's Garden as 'outstanding'

Monday 14 February 2011

Children's Garden

The Children’s Garden Early Years Centre, UEL’s workplace nursery for children of staff and students, has been praised in a recent inspection by officials from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted).

The report found the Children’s Garden to be, ‘Outstanding in all areas’, the highest award that can be bestowed upon an educational establishment.

The Children's Garden is the UK's only on-campus full-time Steiner nursery. The Steiner philosophy is that children are at the centre of their own learning process and creativity is highly valued. Cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills are valued equally, and teaching is done by example, not instruction.

The delighted nursery staff would like to invite all UEL colleagues to join them in a small celebration on Thursday 24 March, 3 – 5pm, at the Children’s Garden on the University's Docklands Campus.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Thais Bishop t.m.bishop@uel.ac.uk by Friday 18 February.
