UEL students excel at business games

Tuesday 2 November 2010

Xing Business Winners

80 of the brightest and enthusiastic Royal Docks Business School students gathered at Docklands’ ExCeL Exhibition and Conference Centre to take part in UEL’s third and largest XING business challenge.

XING is an interactive strategy game where teams of students go through the decision-making processes and various stages of setting up a new business venture. Twelve teams of six or seven students worked extremely hard for over 5 hours and were then given less than 10 minutes to present their ideas in front of a panel of judges, including experts from the business world. Business expert Anne Bell, Director of the Value Learning Company, said: “I really enjoyed taking part in XING on Friday. Thank you for the opportunity to support the students and help them with their business game. Throughout the day I just couldn’t help thinking they were a real business group. It was only when I talked to individual students about their studies I realised they were hoping to gain employment.”

Sandra Juresiute from team ‘Synergy A’ said: “I have learnt a lot today; it was great being shown how to handle the pressure of interviews and how to approach companies and sponsors. Having meetings and getting professional advice from the judges will really help me in the future”

Rasuole Rutkauskaite of team ‘Oxygen A’ said “I competed two years ago, and the quality of this year’s competitors is much higher than last time, I really enjoyed today and if I wasn’t graduating this year, I would definitely do it again!”.

Congratulations to team SWARRS B who walked away as winners with £500 to share after closely beating second place team Oxygen A.

Event organiser Mohsin Ramzan thanked ExCeL for their sponsorship of the event and said: “Judging by all of the teams’ effort it’s clear that UEL has some truly gifted and aspiring students who are bound for future business success.”
