Friday 3 September 2010

Pete Cobb and Sarah Weir

Sarah Weir, Head of Arts and Cultural Strategy for the Olympic Delivery Authority, officially opened the MA fine arts end-of-year show at the University of East London’s Docklands Campus on Wednesday.

The show is the culmination of the work done by students studying for their higher degree in fine art at UEL and as such the standard is extremely high. Highlights included Maggie Rose’s The Emperor’s Favourites, an installation featuring live pigeons, and Pablo Delgado’s striking figures in his mixed media piece, Non Solo.

Sarah, whose role is to incorporate arts and culture into the heart of the Olympic Park, was joined by Peter Cobb, Dean of School and Course Director Grenville Davey, along with the world-renowned and twice Turner Prize nominated sculptor Richard Wilson.

She praised the exhibiting students, saying: “It is wonderful to see so much artistic talent on display” before being presented with a bunch of flowers by fine art Masters student Antria Pelakanou.
