The University of East London’s School of Computing, Information Technology and Engineering hosted 20 students from Germany in July through the European Commission’s esteemed Leonardo programme.
TheLeonardo programme, which is funded by the Commission and focuses on the teaching and training needs of those involved invocational education and training, aims to enhance the competitiveness of the European labour market by helping European citizens to acquire new skills, knowledge and qualifications and have them recognised across borders.
The students, who stayed at UEL for three weeks, spent their first week developing their English language skills, specifically with reference to computing technology, and then in the subsequent two weeks studied computer fraud and counter-measures.
German course leader Thomas Forester said: “the visit has proved to be a great success. We are hoping to bring double the number of students next year and to eventually establish a regular programme of these courses with the university”.
