UEL graduate wins textiles award and placement in the fashion houses of Italy

University of East London Textiles graduate Aimee St Hill stole the show with her entry at the prestigious Textprint Com:on Scarf competition held at Chelsea College of Art and Design this month.

‘I Love Paris’ was the theme of the 2010 competition, in which textile designers from 19 UK universities and colleges competed for Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes.

The Gold Award went to Aimee for her depiction of the Trocadéro area in the 16th arrondissement, with its terraces and tourist bustle. Brilliant colours added to the strong 3D element of the design.

Furthermore, winning the esteemed prize now means that she has also landed herself a placement in Italy working with some of the best fashion houses and silk mills in Como and Milan.

The scarf, which was described by judges simply as ‘brilliant’, will be exhibited at Liberty Department Store in London and in Paris later in the year.
