The Labour Party has chosen the University of East London as the venue to launch its pledge to the country to build a high tech economy.

Cabinet Ministers Ed Miliband (Climate Change), Lord Adonis (Transport) and Minister Joan Ruddock (Climate Change) along with local MP Stephen Timms will meet entrepreneurs, business advisers and student ambassadors at the university’s docklands campus to hear how they believe enterprise can be supported.

Introduced by Nirmal Borkhataria, UEL’s Pro-Vice Chancellor, Climate Change Minister Ed Miliband will reinforce the party's investment commitments to building a high tech economy; focusing especially on supporting future generational, digital, green, and wider sustainable enterprise initiatives.

Ministers will then take the opportunity to meet in small groups with university-based staff and student entrepreneurs.

Vice Chancellor Professor Patrick McGhee said: “that the Labour party has chosenthe University of East London to launch this pledge is demonstrative of the positionit holds in terms of sustainability and entrepreneurship. It is also an excellentopportunity for our student entrepreneurs to speak directly to the most seniorpoliticians about their aspirations and the challenges they face”.
