The University of East London (UEL) in collaboration with Newham Council, Aanchal Women’s Aid, Newham Asian Women’s Project and Sherico Care Homes Limited has jointly organised an education and training event for local women as part of International Women’s Week which runs from March 6 to March 14 2010.
‘Opportunities for Women’ will take place at the Forest Gate Youth Zone on Tuesday March 9 and there will be a variety of stalls providing information on education, training and employment opportunities and local services available.
Jasbir Panesar, Community Manager with UEL’s Education and Community Partnership Team said: “UEL is looking forward to celebrating International Women’s Week this year. We are trying to break down those barriers to higher education and we would like women across Newham and London to come along and find the opportunities that they need. There’s a wide range of services on offer including information about overseas qualifications and finding employment.”
A representative from the Newham Volunteers Adult Community and Leisure Electorate will be presenting a programme aimed towards recruiting volunteers for London 2012. There are also workshops and demonstrations on beauty, well being, health and empowerment.
This event will take place at the Forest Gate Youth Zone, 1 Woodford, Forest Gate, London E7 ODH on 9 March 2010 from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
