UEL September Open Day is a hit

Friday 4 September 2009

Hundreds of visitors came along to the University of East London (UEL) open day on Wednesday 2 September and many people were delighted to be offered places on the spot.

Visitors flocked to both the Docklands and Stratford campuses to find out more about the exciting range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and combinations on offer for this year and for the new starts in February 2010.

People also had the opportunity to speak with current students and academics, attend talks and take a tour of the campuses to see the latest state-of-the-art facilities such as the brand new Conference and Computing Centre at Stratford.

Catherine Downes, Director of Corporate Marketing said: “I’m really pleased with the huge turnout at both campuses. We’ve had lots of interest in many programmes and it’s great that so many people have been offered places and they’ve accepted. We welcome them to UEL and hope they can join us for the Freshers Fayre activities from the 21st September.”

An additional Postgraduate Open Day on Wednesday 9 September between 4.30 – 7.30pm only at the Docklands Campus will help those who want to enhance their career prospects with a postgraduate qualification, including full and part-time study.

Siobhan Haywood, 29, from Homerton was offered a place that she accepted on the BA Honours English Literature Programme on 20 August - the first day of Clearing. She said: “I’ve come here today to get a feel for the place and meet the lecturers. The open day is brilliant and everyone’s been really helpful and informative. I’m looking forward to studying here and I chose the programme at UEL because the modules looked very interesting.”

Other forthcoming open days include:

  • Saturday 17 October, 12-4pm

Visitors who wish to attend any of the above open days can book online at www.uel.ac.uk/openday. Everyone that books online is entered into a free prize draw to win £100 Amazon voucher.
